EDIT: I went through many of my previous posts and added a little more information about the sketches. So, it might be worth checking that out.

I made a few scans of an old sketchbook from about ten years ago. I'll be posting some sketches from there every now and then. Here's the first sample. I drew this one in 1998. The Japanese letters on the side make out my name. I learned that from a Japanese calligraphy course I took back then. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything from that course...

My recent sketches were influenced by Michael Nobbs. He also likes to draw and he made this nice booklet called "75 ways to draw more". I went through his list and found it quite inspiring. It basically says that you should draw whatever you see around you, no matter how ordinary it looks. Simple and true. So, thank you Michael. I dedicate this phone sketch to you. It was just sitting there on my desk...

This is one of my daughter's dolls. She likes to take their clothes off. Should I be worried by this? Anyway, I found this doll lying on this chair and felt the urge to sketch. I found that dolls are kinda fun to draw. Should I be worried by this?

My apartment doesn't have a lot of direct sunlight during the day - making it pretty hard to grow plants inside. However, my wife and I did manage to find three plants that manage to survive the harsh conditions. They're the kind of plants that doesn't have flowers. But that's okay. We like them anyway. Here is a sketch of one of the plants.

I know some people like to read a book or a newspaper while sitting on the toilet. I know I do. But, this time I tried something different. I took my sketchbook with me and drew this (rather smelly) sketch of the faucet in my bathroom.
